This training is available for Detention facilities, Security, Law enforcement and Active Military. Credentials will be verified prior to training. If your agency or company does not have a defensive tactics instructor this is the perfect program. Upon completion of the training participants will be able to provide essential defensive tactics training to their staff. Max class size 10 The Defensive Tactics Instructor (DTI) course provides practical defensive countermeasures and control & restraint techniques when faced with resisting or assaultive individuals. This course relies heavily on practical, hands-on applications and is intended for those who want instruction in the proper uses of both soft and hard empty-hand techniques, weapon retention, use of straight batons (expandable or rigid) for self-defense and control & restraint, proper application of restraints and the use of OC aerosol. The course also contains classroom segments on Use of Force, Instructor Development topics of Instructor Responsibilities, Methods of Teaching, Professional Image and Student Learning Methods. Participants will be certified as Defensive Tactics Instructors and will be able to teach a comprehensive defensive tactics program comprised of the Monadnock® Defensive Tactics System (MDTS), Monadnock® Expandable Baton (MEB), Hiatt® Tactical Handcuffing (HTH) and OC aerosol courses. Each of these courses can be segregated and taught independently and requires a demonstration of proficiency with the appropriate physical skills and completion of a written exam. Certification will be active for three years. Upon completion of this 5-Day Defensive Tactics Instructor Course and mastery of the prescribed techniques and training philosophies, participants will be provided with specific course material to assist with certifying and recertifying officers within their agency and be able to: · Demonstrate proficiency with all course techniques · Demonstrate and articulate communication and de-escalation strategies · Demonstrate a working knowledge of use of force as it relates to this course · Demonstrate their ability to instruct what they have learned by participating in a series of class teach-back segments · Certify students in the complete Defensive Tactics program or each individual course (MDTS, MEB, HTH, OC Aerosol) by: · Safely and effectively teaching to their class participants all the course techniques with a clear understanding of physical skills teaching methods and student learning methods · Evaluating students’ proficiency with course techniques and remediation process if necessary · Administer appropriate written exams to test participants’ knowledge of use of force considerations, the application of techniques and the proportionality of their use Student Equipment Requirements · Appropriate training clothing for defensive tactics with non-marking footwear · Duty belt with holster, blue/red training gun, OC pouch, handcuff case · Expandable baton and baton holder · Handcuffs (Chain or hinge are acceptable) and handcuff key · White Foam and Black Foam Training Batons (if available) · Mouthpiece · NO LIVE WEAPONS TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FIREARMS, EDW’S, OC, KNIVES Requirements The Defense Technology Training Academy (DTA) trains only sworn law-enforcement officers, correctional personnel, state-licensed security personnel and active military personnel. Defensive tactics training is strenuous and physically challenging. Students should be in good physical condition when attending and participating in this training to ensure successful completion of any instructor level course. This course requires physical movements such as twisting, bending, pulling, lifting, gripping, crouching, kneeling, getting on the ground and getting back up to standing. Any student who is unable to fully participate in the course curriculum cannot complete the instructor level certification requirements. Defense Technology, LLC nor Force Utilization LLC will not assume responsibility for any students who do not seek medical consultation prior to course participation. It is incumbent upon each student to ensure they are capable of meeting the physical requirements of any DTI course.
