The Tactical Drone Operator course is a comprehensive three-day program designed to equip public safety professionals with the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to effectively deploy unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in tactical environments. Day one focuses on classroom instruction, including a review of federal regulations, current and evolving case law, drone operations in Oklahoma, team communication, drone program management, and strategic considerations for indoor versus outdoor deployments. Day two transitions to practical outdoor operations, where students gain familiarity with aircraft systems, perform basic flight maneuvers, and utilize camera and thermal capabilities. Scenario-based training includes manhunt, pursuit, and search and rescue exercises. Day three emphasizes indoor tactical operations, featuring aircraft familiarization, obstacle course navigation, building search techniques, and barricaded subject scenarios. This course prepares operators to safely, legally, and effectively integrate drones into real-world law enforcement and public safety missions.
