Internet Crimes Against Children: Basic CyberTip Investigation

Description
This course is designed by Det. Ponder of Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, to be an introduction to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. It will introduce participants to the task force, and provide an overview of its structure and operations. Students will learn fundamental investigative techniques for cyber-crimes involving children. These techniques will be demonstrated through hands-on practical application and case studies. The course will also discuss search warrants for electronic service providers (ESP) and electronic devices, as well as interview and interrogation tips for potential child predators. This course will place an emphasis on the investigation of CyberTip reports submitted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It will not cover more advanced proactive techniques such as undercover operations and peer-to-peer file sharing.
