| Key Responsibilities |
| Patrol The patrol division of the Sheriff’s Office comprises of deputies who will ultimately be patrolling the rural areas of our county and responding to calls for service in those areas. In addition to that, patrol deputies will be watching for traffic violations and conducting traffic stops throughout these areas. Reserves Reserve deputies are individuals who typically hold full-time jobs elsewhere, but volunteer some of their down time to the sheriff's office. Reserve deputies are called out when major incidents occur to help with the processing of crime scenes, or simply to supplement patrol while others work the incident. They also come out to events around the county, such as fairs and festivals, along with patrol to saturate the event with law enforcement presence. Reserve deputies are unique, in that they can simply plug into any one of the many divisions at the sheriff's office and assist as needed. Our reserves are a critical part of our infrastructure, and they are deeply appreciated. Transport The transportation division is a vital part of the department as it relates to bringing offenders to justice. Offenders that commit crimes in Stephens County may not stay very long and instead flee to other areas or simply get apprehended outside of our jurisdiction. For that reason, a dedicated team of deputies are required to safely and securely transport prisoners from outside agencies back to Stephens County to be brought before the proper magistrate. Deputies on this assignment, when not actively transporting, are utilized by the Courthouse Security Division to assist in their ongoing duties. |
