Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be a United States citizen.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license (or be able to obtain one before employment).
Must meet all Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) certification requirements, including completing a basic academy if not already certified.
Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history, employment history, and character review.
Must pass a psychological evaluation if required by the hiring agency.
Must pass a drug screening.
Must meet the employing agency’s physical fitness standards and any applicable medical requirements.
Must be of good moral character and not have any disqualifying criminal convictions or conduct that would prevent CLEET certification.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities – Police Officer
Patrol assigned areas to prevent crime, protect life and property, and maintain public order.
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service in a timely and professional manner.
Enforce federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and traffic regulations.
Conduct criminal and traffic investigations, gather evidence, interview victims and witnesses, and prepare detailed reports.
Make lawful arrests, issue citations, and testify in municipal, district, and federal courts when required.
Operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively during routine patrol and emergency responses.
Investigate motor vehicle collisions, document scenes, and complete required reports.
Utilize department technology, including mobile data terminals, body-worn cameras, in-car camera systems, and other law enforcement equipment.
Develop positive relationships with community members through professional, respectful, and service-oriented policing.
Assist other law enforcement agencies, fire departments, EMS, and emergency management personnel during incidents and mutual aid responses.
Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations involving criminal offenses, suspicious activity, and quality-of-life concerns.
Identify, document, and preserve crime scenes and evidence in accordance with departmental policy and legal standards.
Perform warrant service, prisoner transport, and temporary detention processing, and photographs.
Provide assistance during special events, traffic control operations, disasters, and emergency incidents.
Maintain proficiency in firearms, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, first aid, CPR, and other required law enforcement skills.
Complete all required training, certifications, and continuing education as mandated by CLEET and departmental policy.
Prepare accurate, complete, and timely reports and maintain appropriate records.
Exercise sound judgment, professionalism, integrity, and ethical decision-making in all interactions.
Maintain assigned equipment, vehicles, uniforms, and duty gear in a serviceable condition.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the mission of the Alex Police Department.

Base is $16.00 / hour
