Minimum Requirements

1. **Age**: Must be at least 21 years old.

2. **Citizenship**: Must be a U.S. citizen.

3. **Education**: High school diploma or GED is required; some agencies may prefer or require some college coursework or a degree.

4. **Driver’s License**: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

5. **Background Check**: Pass a thorough background investigation, including criminal history, credit check, and employment history.

6. **Physical Fitness**: Meet physical fitness standards, which may include a physical agility test.

7. **Medical Examination**: Pass a medical exam and drug screening.

8. **Psychological Evaluation**: Complete a psychological assessment.

9. **Training**: Complete police academy training approved by the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET).

10. **CLEET Certification**: Obtain certification from CLEET after completing the required training.

Key Responsibilities

- Enforce university policies, local, state, and federal laws to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
- Conduct patrols of campus grounds, buildings, and parking areas to deter criminal activity and provide a visible law enforcement presence.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, incidents, and alarms on campus.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and violations; complete detailed reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Provide assistance to students, staff, and visitors, including first aid, escorts, and information.
- Enforce parking regulations and issue citations as necessary.
- Collaborate with university administration, local law enforcement agencies, and emergency services.
- Participate in community outreach programs and campus safety initiatives.
- Maintain professional conduct and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
- Attend training sessions and continue education to stay current on law enforcement techniques and regulations.
