| Candidates should meet Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement Standards. Candidates must be 21 years of age, be a US citizen, and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and a high school diploma or GED. Candidate must pass psychological testing, a drug test, and a thorough background investigation. A candidate should possess good moral character and a strong desire to serve the citizens of Perkins. Candidate shall have no Felony, Domestic Violence, Serious Misdemeanor, or Crimes involving Moral Turpitude convictions. |
| Key Responsibilities |
| Monitors and enforces criminal and traffic laws. Work requires responsibility to react in a thorough and professional manner and an ability to deal with the public and observe suspicious activity. Patrols all assigned areas of the City checking buildings, businesses, schools, residences, etc., for suspicious activity to deter crime and to protect lives and property of the citizens. Enforces federal and state laws and City ordinances. Investigates crime scene; talks to or interviews witnesses or victims; searches for, collects, and preserves evidence; participates in line-ups; makes oral or written reports such as criminal complaint forms or narrative reports; testifies in court. Makes arrests on criminal and traffic-related offenses at the scene. Executes search warrants and arrests after obtaining sufficient evidence to arrest. Assists stranded motorists, provides assistance to those who need aid, comfort, or who are in distress. Using training and/or resources, determines if a person poses a danger to self or others and their ability to provide for their life’s daily needs, evaluates their mental stability, performing an Emergency Order of Detention if needed. Investigates traffic accidents. Assists with arrest responsibilities, fingerprinting, transport, etc. May assist Investigator, Sergeant, and/or Lieutenant in diverse tasks involving the recognition, collection, and analysis of evidence and information. Must demonstrate proficiency with firearms and with physical defense techniques to defend self and others. Performs other duties as assigned. |

| $40,102.40 - $42,552.80, depending on experience - $2,500 sign on bonus for CLEET-certified applicants after successful completion of FTO. - Longevity incentive. - Uniform and cellphone allowance. - 20-year retirement program (OPPRS). - Take-home car program for officers that live within 15 miles of city limits. |
