Minimum Requirements
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Must be able to pass a background check, psychological evaluation, drug screening, and physical examination
• CLEET certification preferred (non-certified applicants may be considered)
Key Responsibilities
• Provide professional, courteous, and responsive law enforcement services to the citizens of Beggs.
• Build positive relationships with residents, local businesses, schools, churches, and community organizations.
• Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the community.
• Patrol neighborhoods, business districts, schools, parks, and other areas of the city.
• Respond to calls for service, emergencies, traffic incidents, and citizen concerns.
• Enforce state laws and city ordinances fairly, consistently, and professionally.
• Conduct preliminary investigations, prepare reports, collect evidence, and make arrests when appropriate.
• Work to solve problems before they become larger issues through communication and proactive policing.
• Assist citizens with concerns that may not always require enforcement action and connect them with appropriate resources when possible.
• Participate in community events and other activities that strengthen relationships between officers and residents.
• Work cooperatively with surrounding law enforcement agencies, fire/EMS, city employees, and other community partners.
• Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, accountability, and respect in all interactions.
• Perform other law enforcement and public-safety duties as needed in a small community.
