| Minimum Requirements |
| Must be between 21 and 45 years of age. Must be a US citizen. Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. No Prior Felony Convictions. No convictions of any crime involving moral turpitude or domestic violence. Honorable Discharge (if prior military). Valid Oklahoma Driver's License. Passing Time on CLEET Safe Participation Exam. Passing Score on Written Exam. Must pass an MMPI. Must pass background investigation and polygraph. Must pass police pension physical. No illicit substance use within past 2 years. No previous arrests with charges filed in the past 3 years. |
| Key Responsibilities |
| Operates a motor vehicle for extended periods of time in all environmental conditions and on occasion operates the vehicle at high speeds and in congested traffic situations (all within specified guidelines). Patrols assigned area of jurisdiction and enforces state and federal laws and municipal ordinances. Patrols and examines buildings and residences to detect suspicious conditions and handles situations accordingly. Directs traffic in congested and emergency areas. Reports safety and other hazards that endanger public safety. Responds to scenes of accidents, administers first aid, and investigates cause and files accident reports. Issues citations to violators of traffic laws. Patrols to control and regulate traffic, prevent crimes and disturbance of peace, and arrest violators. Becomes familiar with district and businesses within the area. Visits the scene of crimes and accidents. Searches for and preserves evidence. Investigates and interviews victims, witnesses and potential suspects. Apprehends those suspected of felony or misdemeanor crimes. Participates in line-ups. Makes oral and written reports of activity Provides testimony in court proceedings. Speaks before citizens and citizen groups. Participates in various training sessions. Investigates motor vehicle collisions, obtains statements, measurements, and other evidence that may determine which person involved violated an ordinance. Furnish information to the public, give directions, and provide other personal services. Serve warrants and summons. Being alert to apprehend stolen motor vehicles, wanted persons, or items as directed to assist detective division or other law enforcement agencies. Responds to radio calls to investigate complaints. Responds to and provides other requests for police services as required. Performs other duties as required or assigned. |
