City of Bristow Dedicates New Terminal at the Jones Memorial Airport

Thursday, December 22, 2022

The Jones Memorial Airport in Bristow, OK hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, December 15 in honor of the airport’s new award-winning airport terminal.

The terminal building, a $1.2 million project that started construction in 2021, is the last project that concludes a seven year, nearly $9M effort to completely renovate the airport. The terminal is an architecturally designed, metal-frame building that has two offices, a pilot lounge, a conference room, a kitchen, and a large lobby.

In addition to the ribbon cutting attendees heard from local and state dignitaries including Mayor Rick Pinson, Representative Kyle Hilbert, Senator Todd Gollihare, and State Director of Aeronautics Grayson Ardies.

“As we look at ways to grow and strengthen our local communities and state's economy, it is projects like this new terminal that will have the greatest impact," Gollihare said. "The Jones Memorial Airport provides hundreds of direct and indirect jobs and contributes more than $7 million to the economy annually. We are blessed to have this facility in our district, and the new state-of-the-art terminal will help attract even more businesses and travelers to the area, adding to the endless economic benefits the airport provides for our state."

The Jones Memorial Airport provides more than 70 direct and indirect jobs. Among those who use the airport are Phillips Pipeline Control, Riverside British Petroleum, and its biggest tenant, Consolidated Turbine Specialists (CTS), which is a large investor in the airport.

“With aerospace as Oklahoma’s second-largest industry and because aviation is essential to the state’s transportation network and economic ecosystems, the Jones Memorial Airport Terminal is a significant part of moving the state’s transportation efforts forward as Oklahoma airports continue supporting non-stop commercial airline and general aviation flights that connect businesses and residents to destinations throughout the nation,” said Representative Kyle Hilbert.

The growth of the aviation and aerospace industry in the Bristow community continues to soar with the recent addition of PAS MRO.  This new company, in addition to existing companies such as Vertical Aerospace and CTS help to showcase how Bristow is becoming a hub for small to medium sized aerospace companies.

“I know that this terminal building and the other significant improvements to the airport will provide the foundational infrastructure base for which Bristow can recruit additional aerospace businesses to their community,” said State Director of Aeronautics Grayson Ardies.

There are 5,400 general aviation airports located throughout our nation.  Oklahoma alone has 108 such facilities in our public airport system. Over 7,000 businesses in the United States rely on general aviation aircraft and airports to reach global markets and compete in the global economy.  General aviation aircraft allow businesses to use the most efficient form of transportation, going from point A to point B without having to make a connection or deal with the frustrations of commercial airline travel.
