About Oklahoma Works

Oklahoma Works' vision is to align resources, education, training and job opportunities to build Oklahoma's workforce. Oklahoma Works' strategic priorities are coordinated by the Governor’s Council for Workforce and Economic Development.

Strategic Plan

Every three years, the Oklahoma Works partners develop a strategic plan, which is presented to the Governor's Council for Workforce and Economic Development. Once approved, this plan functions as the roadmap for Oklahoma's workforce system.

WIOA Realignment

To increase efficiency, realign agencies, develop oversight and eliminate silos within the workforce system, Governor Stitt released Executive Order 2023-21. The EO moved Title I resources from the Department of Commerce to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, and designated OESC as the lead authority for WIOA in Oklahoma.

State Plan

Oklahoma submits a Unified or Combined State Plan to the U.S. Department of Labor and Department of Education that outlines its workforce development system's four-year strategy, and updates the plan as required after two years.
