Behavior Analyst License Renewals

BIENNIAL License Renewal Information

The Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (OSBEP) requires all actively licensed behavior analysts to renew their licenses biennually to maintain authorization to practice behavior analysis in Oklahoma.

Effective November 1, 2026, the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (OSBEP) assumed responsibility for the regulation and licensure of behavior analysts in Oklahoma pursuant to Senate Bill 1557 and the applicable provisions of the Oklahoma Behavior Analyst Licensure Act, 59 O.S. § 1928 et seq.

Oklahoma-licensed Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs) are required to renew their state licenses every two years to maintain authorization to practice behavior analysis in Oklahoma.

The biennial renewal period opens February 15 and closes April 30 of each odd-numbered year.

The next scheduled renewal period is February 15 – April 30, 2027.

To maintain an active Oklahoma license, behavior analysts must complete all applicable renewal requirements, maintain their professional certification as required by law, update their licensure information, and pay the appropriate renewal fee.

Renewal Deadline: April 30, 2027

Licensees are encouraged to renew early to allow sufficient time to resolve any outstanding requirements or technical issues before the deadline.

How to Renew Your Behavior Analyst License

All actively licensed BCBAs and BCaBAs should complete the following steps through the OSBEP online licensure portal.

Step 1: Access Your Online Licensure Account

  1. Access the Licensee Portal.

  2. Log in using your registered username and password.

  3. If you have not previously registered, select the new-user registration option and follow the instructions to create your account.

  4. If you experience difficulty accessing your account, use the available login assistance option.

Important for Transferred Licensees: Existing behavior analyst license records were transferred to OSBEP as part of the November 1, 2026, transition. Licensees should not submit a new license application when renewing an existing Oklahoma license.

Step 2: Review and Update Your Contact Information

Review your online licensee profile and verify that all information is accurate and current, including:

  • Full legal name

  • Mailing address

  • Practice or employment address

  • Email address

  • Telephone number

  • BACB certification information

  • Other required licensee information

Licensees are responsible for maintaining accurate contact information with the Board.

Important: Changes made to your BACB certification record do not automatically update your Oklahoma state license. Licensees must ensure that OSBEP has their current information.

Step 3: Verify Your BACB Certification

Oklahoma behavior analyst licensure requires the applicable professional certification issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

Before renewing your Oklahoma license:

  1. Verify that your BACB certification is current and in good standing.

  2. Confirm that your certification level is accurately reflected in your OSBEP account.

  3. Review your certification expiration date and any applicable recertification requirements.

  4. Provide updated certification information or supporting documentation if requested by OSBEP.

Important: BACB certification and Oklahoma state licensure are separate requirements. Renewing your BACB certification does not automatically renew your Oklahoma license, and renewing your Oklahoma license does not renew your BACB certification.

Step 4: Verify Continuing Education Requirements

Behavior analysts are responsible for maintaining the continuing education required for their applicable BACB certification.

Before completing your state license renewal:

  1. Review your current BACB continuing education and recertification requirements.

  2. Confirm that you have satisfied the applicable requirements for your certification level.

  3. Maintain documentation of completed continuing education activities.

  4. Provide any requested continuing education or certification documentation if required during the state renewal process.

Important: OSBEP may request documentation to verify compliance with applicable state licensure and professional certification requirements.

Licensees must comply with the continuing education requirements established by applicable Oklahoma law, Board rules, and the BACB.

Step 5: Verify Supervision Requirements, If Applicable

BCaBA licensees must maintain the supervision required for their level of certification and scope of practice.

Before completing renewal, BCaBA licensees should:

  1. Verify that their supervising BCBA meets applicable supervision requirements.

  2. Confirm that their supervision arrangement is current.

  3. Review and update any supervisor information requested by OSBEP.

  4. Submit updated supervision documentation when required.

Important: A BCaBA may not practice independently and must maintain appropriate supervision in accordance with applicable Oklahoma law, Board requirements, and BACB standards.

Step 6: Complete the Required Renewal Questions

During the online renewal process, licensees must review and complete all required renewal questions and attestations.

Licensees must answer all questions completely and accurately.

Additional documentation or Board review may be required depending on the information disclosed.

Step 7: Pay the Biennial Renewal Fee

The following renewal fees apply to Oklahoma behavior analyst licenses:

License TypeBiennial Renewal Fee
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)$250
Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)$200

Renewal fees are non-refundable.

Payment must be submitted using the payment methods authorized by OSBEP.

  • Online: Pay through the licensure portal using a credit card or EFT. A convenience fee may apply.

  • By Mail: Submit payment by check to the Board office, postmarked no later than December 31.

Licensees should retain a copy of their payment confirmation for their records.

Important: Payment alone does not complete the renewal process. All applicable renewal requirements must be satisfied.

Step 8: Verify Completion and Obtain Your Updated License

After submitting your renewal:

  1. Review your online account to ensure that all required information has been submitted.

  2. Confirm that your renewal payment has been successfully processed.

  3. Check for any outstanding documentation or Board requests.

  4. Verify that your license status reflects Active for the new licensing period.

  5. Download or print your updated license card through the online portal.

  6. Save your renewal confirmation and payment receipt.

Licensees are responsible for confirming that their Oklahoma license remains active before continuing to practice.

Failure to Renew by April 30

Behavior analyst licenses that are not renewed by the applicable deadline are subject to the expiration, invalid status, late renewal, and reinstatement provisions established by Oklahoma law and applicable Board rules.

An individual whose Oklahoma license is no longer valid or active is not authorized to practice behavior analysis under that license.

Late Renewal Fees

Late renewal fees and any additional reinstatement requirements may be assessed in accordance with applicable Oklahoma statutes and Board rules.

Licensees who miss the renewal deadline should contact OSBEP to determine the requirements for returning their license to active status.

Requesting Inactive License Status

Behavior analysts who are no longer actively practicing in Oklahoma may be eligible to request inactive license status, subject to applicable Board requirements.

An inactive Oklahoma license does not authorize the practice of behavior analysis in the state.

Individuals seeking to return to active practice must satisfy the applicable reactivation requirements before resuming services.

Licensees should contact OSBEP for information regarding inactive status, applicable fees, and reactivation procedures.

Important Reminders

  • State Licensure Is Required: BACB certification alone does not replace the requirement to maintain an Oklahoma state license when practicing behavior analysis in Oklahoma.

  • Renewal Is Biennial: Oklahoma behavior analyst licenses are renewed every two years, during the February 15 through April 30 renewal period in odd-numbered years.

  • Maintain Current Information: Licensees must keep their contact, certification, and applicable supervision information current with OSBEP.

  • Monitor Your License Status: Licensees are responsible for ensuring that their Oklahoma license remains active.

  • Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs): OSBEP does not issue Oklahoma state licenses to RBTs under the current behavior analyst licensure framework. RBTs should continue to comply with applicable BACB requirements.
