Starting September 1st, 2024, The Mason Treat Act will go into effect, which will modify procedures for registration and temporary license plates upon vehicle transfer and will enhance transparency, accountability, and public safety.
The Mason Treat Act is a new law named after Senate Pro Tempore Greg Treat’s son, who was critically injured in January during a routine traffic stop. The Mason Treat Act makes changes to temporary license plates, creates a new pre-registration process and a registration for Authorized Temporary License Plate Vendors.
