Memorial Day Traffic Advisory 5-21-24

The following construction projects will impact travel on interstates, major highways and turnpikes from Friday, May 24, through Monday, May 27. I-44/Turner Turnpike shoulder closures near Heyburn in Creek Co.

 I-44/Turner Turnpike shoulders are closed between mm 197-203 near Heyburn in Creek County through summer for a reconstruction and widening project. 

US-412/Cimarron Turnpike narrowed at US-64 in Noble Co.

US-412/Cimarron Turnpike is narrowed to one lane in both directions at US-64 (mm 22.5) for bridge rehabilitation.

US-412/Cimarron Turnpike narrowed East of SH-99 in Pawnee Co.

US-412/Cimarron Turnpike is narrowed to one lane in both directions near SH-99 (mm 48.5) for bridge rehabilitation.

US-412/Cimarron Turnpike narrowed near Glencoe in Payne Co.

US-412/Cimarron Turnpike is narrowed to one lane in both directions over Oak Creek (mm 25.7) near Glencoe for bridge rehabilitation.

SH-375/Indian Nation Turnpike narrowed near Antlers and McAlester in Pushmataha Co. and Pittsburg Co.

SH-375/Indian Nation Turnpike is narrowed to one lane in both directions north of SH-3 (mm 16) near Antlers and South of US-69 (mm 63) for cashless tolling infrastructure work.

Indian Nation Turnpike/SH-375 narrowed near Antlers in Pushmataha Co.

Indian Nation Turnpike/SH-375  is narrowed to one lane in the southbound direction at between mm 28.5 and 31.0 for cable barrier installation

I-44/Will Rogers ramps narrowed in Rogers Co. and Craig Co.

I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike on- and off-ramps are narrowed at Claremore (mm 255), Adair (mm 269), and Big Cabin (mm 283) for cashless tolling infrastructure work.

Oklahoma Transportation

Statewide

SH-7/US-177 in Sulphur at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area

Both SH-7 and US-177 in Sulphur are open; however, clean up operations from the tornado are on going and travelers could see an increase in congestion around the park as debris is being hauled to the south of the park near SH-18A.

I-40 narrowed at Airport Rd. in Weatherford, Custer Co.

I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at Airport Rd. in Weatherford for bridge reconstruction.

I-40 narrowed, US-183 narrowed over I-40 in Clinton, Custer Co.

East and westbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane at US-183 and US-183 is narrowed to one lane in each direction over I-40 in Clinton for bridge reconstruction.

I-40 narrowed east of Hydro, Caddo Co.

East and westbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from MM 89 to MM 101 for bridge rehabilitation and pavement resurfacing.

US-60/US-81 narrowed to one lane in Enid, Garfield Co.

North and Southbound US-60/US-81 is narrowed to one lane in each direction 1 mile North of US-412 extending North to SH-45.

US-177 narrowed to one lane south of Stillwater, Payne Co. 

Northbound and southbound US-177 is narrowed to one lane in both directions just south of Stillwater for bridge rehabilitation.

US-64 narrowed to one lane in Perry, Noble Co. 

US-64 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from N. 15th St. to 25th St. in Perry for resurfacing.

US-283 narrowed in Cheyenne, Roger Mills Co.

US-283 is narrowed to one lane with traffic lights in the town of Cheyenne for pavement and bridge construction.

US-60 narrowed near Seiling, Dewey Co.

US-60 is narrowed in both directions between Seiling and Vici for bridge reconstruction.

US-271 narrowed north of the Texas state line, Choctaw Co.

US-271 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Grant and the Texas

state line for bridge replacement.

US-70 narrowed in Valliant, McCurtain Co.

US-70 is narrowed to one lane in each direction through Valliant for resurfacing.

US-69 narrowed in McAlester, Pittsburg Co.

US-69 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from 14th St. to 9th St. in McAlester for surface repairs.

US-62 narrowed to one lane between Muskogee and Ft. Gibson, Muskogee Co.

US-62 is narrowed to one lane in each direction from SH-165 in Muskogee to Georgetown Rd. in Ft. Gibson for bridge work.

SH-110 closed north of Dougherty, Murray Co.

SH-110 is closed south of SH-7 near Dougherty. Drivers are detoured to Healey Rd.

SH-18 narrowed to one lane north of Cushing, Payne Co. 

Northbound and southbound SH-18 is narrowed to one lane with a temporary traffic signal for resurfacing near McElroy Rd, north of Cushing.

SH-6 closed near Eldorado, Jackson Co.

SH-6 is closed 1.2 miles northeast of SH-34 over Gypsum Creek near Eldorado. Detour in place.

SH-83 narrowed east of US-59, Leflore Co.

SH-83 is narrowed to one lane 6 miles east of US-59 with temporary traffic signals controlling traffic for bridge replacement over Peter Harris Creek.

SH-78 South intermittently closed in Bryan Co.

SH-78 South will have intermittent day closures in Bryan County for surface repairs.

Tulsa Metro

Eastbound I-244 closed at I-44, I-244/US-75 narrow in West Tulsa

Eastbound I-244 is closed between the I-44 western split and the US-75 junction in West Tulsa through spring 2025 for pavement rehabilitation. Drivers can detour on I-44 to US-75. As a part of the project, I-244 is narrowed to two lanes in both directions between the junction with  US-75 and the Arkansas River bridge.

I-244 narrows to one lane near US-75 (NE corner IDL)

Eastbound I-244 will be narrowed to one lane at the US-75 junction (northeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop) through June for bridge rehabilitation.

Bridge rehabilitation continues at I-244 ramp to SH-11

The eastbound I-244/US-412 ramp to westbound SH-11 (mm 12B) is closed through late 2024 as part of a bridge rehabilitation project. Eastbound I-244 motorists bound for SH-11/Tulsa International Airport can detour using Mingo Rd. (mm 13A) to access SH-11. Motorists from near Downtown Tulsa can also use northbound US-75 and eastbound SH-11 to reach the airport. The left lane of westbound I-244 is closed at SH-11as part of this project.

Bridge rehabilitation continues on US-412 at 81st W. Ave. in Sand Springs

US-412 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction at 81st W. Ave. in Sand Springs through February 2025 for a bridge rehabilitation project.

SH-51 narrows at Muskogee Turnpike in Broken Arrow through early 2024

SH-51 is narrowed to two lanes at the junction with SH-351/Muskogee Turnpike in Broken Arrow through early 2024 for bridge replacement as part of a city street widening project.

SH-97 pavement rehabilitation continues in Sand Springs through spring 2025

A pavement reconstruction on SH-97 from S. Main St. to W. 2nd St. in Sand Springs continues through spring 2025. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions during peak hours.

SH-97 narrows at 81st St. in Sapulpa through summer 2024

North and southbound SH-97 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction near 81st St. in Sapulpa through summer 2024 as part of an intersection improvement project.

Oklahoma City Metro

I-40 narrows at Douglas Blvd. in Midwest City through 2025

Eastbound I-40 will be narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Town Center Dr. in Midwest City and the I-240 interchange with lane shifts and intermittent ramp closures through 2025. Drivers should use caution as there are no shoulders or merge distances, or use I-240 and US-62/N. 23rd St.

  • Beginning Thursday, May 23, the westbound I-40 on-ramp at Douglas Blvd. will close.
  • Westbound industrial on-ramp remains permanently closed.
  • Drivers are still encouraged to use the protected turnaround at Town Centre to access the eastbound Industrial on-ramp from westbound I-40.
  • Drivers should be aware the temporary lights are still in place along S.E. 29th St. and Industrial Blvd. and continue to expect congestion, especially during peak travel times. While the westbound I-40 off-ramp to Douglas Blvd will reopen, accessing the Hruskocy Gate from Douglas Blvd. is discouraged, and drivers wanting to access the gate should use the new protected turnaround.
  • Northbound and southbound Westminster Rd. is closed at S.E. 44th St. just south of I-40. Westminster Rd. is closed over I-40 through June. Drivers can use S.E. 59th St. and S.E. 29th St. to Anderson Rd. as a detour.
  • Eastbound S.E. 29th St. will be narrowed to one thru lane, a right-only turn lane and two left turn lanes at Douglas Blvd. in Midwest City through spring 2024 as part of ongoing work related to the I-40 and Douglas Blvd.
  • The left lane of the eastbound I-40 off-ramp to Town Center Dr./Eaker Gate is closed through spring 2025.

I-240 intermittently narrows at I-35 through 2025

The following closures are scheduled for east and westbound I-240, S.E. 59th St., Pole Rd. and I-240/I-35 service roads as part of a multi-phase interchange improvement project:

  • S.E. 59th St. is intermittently narrowed.
  • The eastbound I-240 off-ramp to Pole Rd. is closed permanently.
  • East and westbound I-240 and frontage roads will be intermittently narrowed for pavement rehabilitation and railroad bridge replacement.
  • Northbound I-35 off-ramp to eastbound I-240 will be intermittently narrowed.
  • The S.E. 82nd St. on-ramp to northbound I-35 is permanently closed.
  • The service road/access road (S.E. 74th St.) between Pole Road and Crossroads Access Road is closed on the N.E. quadrant of the intersection.

Drivers can expect lane and ramp closures throughout the project, full weekend closures of I-240, as well as increased congestion in the area, especially during peak travel times.

Drivers should locate an alternate route or add additional travel time. Drivers can use I-40 as an alternate route or locate one using the Drive Oklahoma app.

I-35, I-44 narrowed near N. 63rd St. through 2025

The following closures are in place through 2025 for bridge reconstruction:

  • Eastbound I-44 is narrowed to one lane at I-35 through fall.
  • The northbound I-35 off-ramp to N. 63rd St. is closed through fall 2024.
  • Northbound Bryant Ave. is narrowed to one lane between 50th St. and Aluma Valley Dr. through fall 2024.
  • N. 63rd street is closed between Bryant Ave. and Martin Luther King Ave.
  • North and southbound I-35 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction between N. 50th St. and Wilshire Blvd.
  • Westbound I-44 is narrowed to one lane from Wilshire Blvd. to Martin Luther King Ave.
  • The southbound I-35 on-ramp from Bryant Ave. is permanently closed.

Motorists should expect congestion and delays in the area and are encouraged to plan extra travel time.

SH-66 narrows in Edmond, Arcadia through 2025

SH-66 between Anderson Rd. in Edmond/Arcadia and Luther Rd. in Luther through summer 2025 for resurfacing and widening. Motorists should expect:

  • SH-66 to be narrowed to one lane in each direction between Post Rd. and Westminster Rd.
  • SH-66 to be intermittently narrowed to one lane between Anderson Rd. and Luther Rd. with a traffic signal and speed reductions.
  • Intermittent closures are between Henny Rd. & Indian Meridian Rd, for asphalt shoulder placement and mainline asphalt placement on SH-66 through May.

Drivers should locate an alternate route or expect delays and use caution in the area.

I-35 narrows at SH-9W, Goldsby through 2026

North and southbound I-35 will be intermittently narrowed between SH-9W and Main St. in Goldsby through 2026 for corridor widening and an intersection improvement project. Drivers should use caution as I-35 lanes are shifted and have a much shorter merge area through 2024.

The project will convert the I-35 and SH-9W interchange into a Diverging Diamond Interchange, widen I-35 to six lanes between SH-9W and Main St. in Goldsby and add two roundabouts along SH-9W service roads.
