November Transportation Commission Meeting

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission will hold its meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5 in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St. in Oklahoma City.

Items to be addressed at the meeting include:

  • I-235 in Oklahoma City will be in the spotlight as Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Mike Patterson will welcome Gov. Mary Fallin to the commission meeting and provide an update on the current phase of reconstruction and widening of the interstate which is anticipated to fully open to traffic by this weekend. Some incidental work will continue on the side of the highway.
     
  • He will also highlight recent accolades earned by the I-235 project, including a first place award from the Engineering News-Record.
     
  • The commission is expected to vote on award of a more than $43 million contract to replace the US-377/SH-99 Willis bridge over Lake Texoma in Marshall County. Reconstruction of this bridge between Oklahoma and Texas is being funded jointly by ODOT and the Texas Department of Transportation.
     
  • Commissioners will be asked to vote on whether to award contracts for a more than $4 million project to resurface more than six miles of SH-3 near Piedmont in Canadian County and a more than $3.5 million project to resurface nearly two miles of I-44 east of I-244 in Tulsa.

The commission, an eight-member panel appointed by the governor to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
