PR #17-032

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is requesting final comments from the public following the development of the Oklahoma Freight Transportation Plan for 2018-2022. Comments are being taken through Monday, Oct. 23. The public is encouraged to review the plan and its recommended projects and to give input at www.okstatefreightplan.com.

The plan reports on freight trends and forecasts to identify significant freight transportation projects needed in the state that will help develop partnerships and target economic growth across all modes of transportation. Public meetings were presented in the state at earlier dates to gather initial input to draft the publication now up for review.

The five-year plan considers various freight modes including rail, highway and waterways and projects were selected based on many factors, including safety and how recommended improvements would enhance reliability and reduce delays in moving freight. Once comments are gathered and the plan is complete, the entire Freight Plan will be presented to the Federal Highway Administration for final approval by the end of the year.

The Freight Plan and comment forms are available online at www.okstatefreightplan.com. Comments are being accepted through Oct. 23.
