Public invited to give input on future I-44/SH-36 interchange project in Cotton Co. May 3

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting in Walters on Tuesday, May 3 to present information and gather input on a proposed project to improve the I-44/SH-36 interchange in southern Cotton County.

The existing SH-36 bridge over I-44 is a narrow two-lane bridge with inadequate shoulders and the loop ramp from eastbound I-44 to northbound SH-36 does not meet current design standards. In addition to improving the interchange, the project would also reconstruct I-44 from the Red River bridge at the Texas state line north through the SH-36 junction.

A proposed design will be presented at this meeting. Comment forms will also be made available to the public at the meeting and afterwards online to help with further development of detalied plans. Construction is currently scheduled in ODOT’s Eight-year Construction Work Plan for Federal Fiscal Year 2021.
