STEM Outreach Program
ODOT’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Outreach Program for Teachers
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has partnered with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to host professional development STEM training workshops for teachers. Through hands-on training, these STEM workshops equip participating teachers with the skills and necessary tools to bring STEM into their school and classroom.
Each workshop is made up of multiple training sessions. The sessions consist of grade-level appropriate training modules covering the following topics:
- Bridge Design
- Design and Construction
- Environmental Engineering
- Highway Safety
- Magnetic Levitation
- Motion
- Traffic Technology
- STEM Elementary Development
During the training sessions, participants experience each module from a student’s perspective, gaining valuable insights into how to effectively and confidently present STEM concepts in their own classroom. Upon completion of the workshop, each registered participant will be eligible to receive a STEM module of their choice to keep and use at their school.
