Unlike a calendar year, which runs from January to December, a fiscal year (FY) can start in any month and end 12 months later. The fiscal year for the State of Oklahoma begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. July 1 is a common start date for a state agency’s fiscal year, as forty-six states have adopted that convention.
Every July 1, Service Oklahoma welcomes a new fiscal year (FY).
For the Service Oklahoma financial team, that means more than turning the calendar. Months of planning come together as the team launches a new budget, establishes purchase orders and begins closing out the previous fiscal year. Their work ensures Service Oklahoma has the financial foundation to continue delivering services while meeting state reporting requirements and maintaining transparency with taxpayers and stakeholders.
