Minimum Requirements
• Must be able to obtain Basic CLEET certification within six (6) months of hire date (if not currently certified)
• Must be able to pass a P.O.S.S.E. test (if required)
• Must not currently be subject to an order of any state revoking, suspending, or accepting a voluntary surrender of peace officer certification
• Must be evaluated as suitable to serve as a peace officer following psychological evaluation by a psychologist licensed by the State of Oklahoma (if required)
• Must be 21 years of age and under 45 years of age at date of hire
• Must be a United States Citizen
• Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation and oral interview
• Must not have been involuntarily committed to an Oklahoma state mental institution
• Must not currently be undergoing treatment for a mental illness, condition or disorder
• Must not be a current user of controlled substances
• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Must not be subject to a final order of protection
• Must not have a conviction, or be participating in a deferred sentence agreement, for a felony, a crime involving moral turpitude or a crime of domestic violence
• Must not have any criminal charges pending in any Municipal, State, Tribal or Federal/Military court
• If prior military service, must have an Honorable discharge
• If currently serving in the US military, no non-judicial (Article 15) proceedings within the prior two (2) years of date of application
• Must possess a valid Driver's License
• Must not have a DUI, DWI or Reckless Driving violation within the prior five (5) years of application date
• Driving record must be acceptable to City insurance carrier
• Reside within the City of Medford or willing to relocate if selected for the position
• Must be available any shift (Nights, weekends, and holidays) and other special events as needed
• Must have high principles, ethics and moral character
• Must be highly self-motivated and able to work in a small, rural community

Key Responsibilities
• Patrol areas to deter and detect criminal activity
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
• Enforce local, state laws
• Enforce city codes following Code Enforcement certification
• Conduct traffic enforcement and accident investigations
• Investigate crimes, collect evidence, and prepare reports
• Make arrests and testify in court as required
• Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor when dealing with others
