Minimum Requirements

Must have completed a basic police officer certification course equivalent to the requirements set by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET)

High School, GED or equivalent

5+ years directly related experience

Must have and maintain a clean record with no convictions for felonies or qualifying misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence which would prohibit receipt or possession of firearms or ammunition, and misdemeanors in any jurisdiction that do not categorize serious crimes as felonies

Must have completed or be willing to attend the 8-week criminal investigator training program at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Must successfully complete training as a requirement to maintain employment

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for the investigation of crimes and alleged crimes within the Chickasaw Nation. Maintains confidential sources of informants and intelligence concerning criminal activity. Notifies the FBI/BIA of federal crimes and when necessary, provides assistance in investigations and expert advice on Indian culture, habits, and jurisdiction. Testifies before federal grand juries and local courts. Works with the Office of the U.S. Attorney and tribal prosecutor in and out of court. Independently initiates appropriate interaction with federal, state and local agencies to obtain information and/or assistance in accomplishing assignments.
