Minimum Requirements
• Must be a Citizen of the United States
• Must be 21years of age
• Must have High School Diploma or GED
• Must have valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
• Must be of good Moral Character
• Suitable Emotional Stability
• Must not have been convicted of Domestic Abuse
• Must not be under Protective Order
• No Felony Convictions or DUI
• Must pass Drug and Alcohol Screen
• Must successfully pass Psychological Test
• Have excellent verbal and written Communication skills
• Able to work Nights, Weekends and Holidays.
• If Military Service must have Honorable Discharge, provide DD214
• Must successfully complete a Physical assessment Test and Written Exam
• Must successfully pass a rigorous Background Investigation.
• If Reserve certified, must be able to pass and complete Bridge Academy
• Ability to perform all Aspects of Community Policing
• Preference is given to applicants with Current CLEET Certification
Key Responsibilities
The School Resource Officer supports and facilitates the educational process within the Thomas Public School System by providing a safe and secure environment through building and establishing meaningful relationships with students and staff and proactively interacting with the school community to ensure the enforcement of city and state laws, preservation of public order, protection of life and the prevention, detection, or investigation of crime. The incumbent will work effectively with students, parents, school personnel and community agencies to support teaching and learning in the schools. The School Resource Officer will patrol district property to protect students, staff and visitors from physical harm and prevent loss to district property resulting from criminal activity
