Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Age 21–45 (unless currently enrolled in the Oklahoma Police Pension system)
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
o No suspensions or revocations in the past 5 years
o No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
• No convictions for domestic abuse or protective order involvement
• No felony convictions or pending criminal actions
• No marijuana use within the last year
• No steroid use within the last 3 years
• No illicit drug use within the last 5 years
• No alcohol-related driving offenses or crimes of moral turpitude
• Ability to pass:
o Physical agility test
o Written exam
o Oral examinations
o Extensive background investigation
o MMPI (or related) psychological evaluation
o Police Pension Board Physical
o Drug screening
• Successful completion of:
o CLEET Basic Police Academy
o Written, practical, and field training evaluations
o Twelve-month probation period under a Field Training Officer
• Annual physical agility test (required)
• Demonstrated proficiency with firearms (handgun and long gun, semi-annually)
• Demonstrated custody and control skills for self-defense and protection of others

Key Responsibilities

• Operate patrol vehicles for routine and emergency responses
• Enforce state and federal laws and City ordinances
• Make criminal and traffic-related arrests
• Operate two-way radios, handheld radios, and radar equipment
• Read, interpret, and apply laws, ordinances, and operating procedures
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Drive safely under routine and stressful conditions while using radio equipment
• Interact effectively with the public during both routine and high-stress encounters
• Follow instructions and work cooperatively with others
• Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate honesty and integrity
• Work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as needed
• Read and interpret maps; provide accurate directions
• Handle emergencies calmly and effectively
• Perform all aspects of Community Policing
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including:
o Crime scene investigation
o Evidence collection and preservation
o Preparation of written reports
o Court testimony
o Traffic accident investigation

Salary/Compensation

$41,496 – $85,176 annual base pay, depending on experience and education.
Additional compensation and benefits include:
