Position Summary
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Reserve Deputy. The Reserve academy will be held September 29th, 2026 through July 1st, 2027. Reserve Deputies are trained volunteer law enforcement officers who support full-time deputies in protecting life, property, and maintaining public safety throughout Oklahoma County. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to serve their community, gain law enforcement experience, or continue public service in a reserve capacity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reserve Deputies may be assigned duties including, but not limited to:
- Assisting sworn deputies with patrol operations
- Providing security at community events, court functions, and special assignments
- Supporting emergency response and disaster operations
- Performing duties consistent with training and OCSO policies
Reserve Deputies must adhere to all departmental rules, regulations, and standards of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must successfully pass a background investigation and polygraph examination
- Must pass physical agility testing, medical screening, and psychological evaluation
- Must meet all CLEET and OCSO reserve requirements
Training Requirements
- Oklahoma CLEET Reserve Academy (or approved equivalent)
- Ongoing in-service training and annual qualification standards
- Firearms, defensive tactics, and legal updates as required

Commitment
Reserve Deputies are expected to contribute a minimum number of service hours per year (as determined by OCSO policy) and remain active in training and assignments.
