| Minimum Requirements |
| Education, Training, and Experience: Graduation from a standard high school or GED. Completion of a certified police academy and possession of a valid peace officer certification issued by the state regulatory agency. Previous law enforcement experience is preferred but not required. Special Requirements: • Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one. • Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history and driving record checks. |
| Key Responsibilities |
* Patrol Operations: Conduct routine patrols of assigned areas to deter crime, enforce traffic laws, and maintain public order. * Emergency Response: Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, and critical incidents, taking appropriate action as necessary. * Investigations: Conduct preliminary investigations of crimes, accidents, and other incidents, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing reports. * Traffic Control: Enforce traffic laws and regulations, investigate traffic accidents, and assist with traffic management as needed. * Community Engagement: Interact with community members in a positive and professional manner, addressing concerns, providing assistance, and promoting public safety initiatives. * Crime Prevention: Identify and address potential safety hazards, security risks, and criminal activities through proactive patrols and community outreach. * Report Writing: Prepare accurate and detailed reports documenting incidents, arrests, and other activities in accordance with departmental procedures. * Evidence Handling: Collect, preserve, and safeguard evidence in accordance with legal standards and departmental policies. * Court Testimony: Provide testimony in court proceedings as required, presenting evidence and recounting relevant details of investigations. * Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance job knowledge and skills. * Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper care and maintenance of departmental equipment, vehicles, and facilities. * Public Relations: Represent the department positively in interactions with the public, media, and other agencies. * Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts and disputes using effective communication and de-escalation techniques. * Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow officers and departmental staff to achieve common goals and objectives. * Professional Conduct: Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethics in all aspects of job performance. |
