Our Mission Statement

To protect the public by promoting and enforcing laws and regulations which govern the practice of Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marital and Family Therapists, and Licensed Behavioral Practitioners.

The below information is published Pursuant to 74 O.S. § 3106.4, the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure (BBHL) collects and stores the following personally identifiable data:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Alien Registration Number
  • Employer or taxpayer identification number
  • Educational Records
  • Employment Information

All personally identifiable data is stored on secure OMES servers, maintained by OMES. (OMES- State of Oklahoma Office of Management Enterprise Systems). This data is shared with the Oklahoma Tax Commission, and upon written request, BBHL will release qualifying data in accordance with the terms of the Oklahoma Open Records Act.

Below you will find the deadlines established for the Agency's staff to complete the requests the Agency receives. Please remain mindful that these deadlines only apply to the requirement to submit a response to a request. These deadlines should not be considered the date a request will be approved.

  • Evaluations of Supervised Experience (30 day deadline)
  • License Renewals (3 day deadline)
  • New Applications (7 day deadline, if a Board review is required allow up to 8 weeks)
  • New Supervisor Applications (7 day deadline)
  • Out-of-State Verification Requests (30 day deadline)
  • Reactivation/Inactivation Requests (7 day deadline)
  • Supervision Agreements (7 day deadline)

At the May 29, 2015 Board meeting the Board adopted deadlines for Candidates and Licensees to provide information to BBHL for agenda placement purposes. For licensure purposes the deadlines are as follows:

  • 21 days prior to meeting - Begin review for possible names for the Agenda.
  • 7 days prior to meeting – Final deadline for the Agency to receive all Certification materials.
