After similar projects at four other Oklahoma airports, the Oklahoma Arts Council, in collaboration with the Office of Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, is seeking Oklahoma artists for a new mural project at an Oklahoma airport—this time in Ardmore. With the goal of driving tourism and commerce while fostering enthusiasm and pride from current residents, the airport mural series features original works.
Each mural in the series has incorporated symbols and elements reflecting the local community, with the series connected through artistic interpretations of the Official Brand of the State of Oklahoma that include the phrase “Welcome to Oklahoma.”
The selected artist or artist team will receive $6,000 for the project, which covers all costs associated with the project.
To submit qualifications, artists must complete the online application and provide support materials including a letter of interest, resume/CV, and five images of past work with image details. Deadline to submit qualifications is June 19.
