Corrective Statement

In 2022, the United States Justice Department announced a court order against certain tobacco companies. These tobacco companies must post "corrective statements" in their contracted retail shops. The corrective statements are meant to tell people about the true dangers of tobacco products.

Many tobacco shops have contracts with tobacco companies. These contracts state where tobacco products are placed and how they are promoted. These shops must display signs with the corrective statements. The signs must be visible to anyone who enters the shop. The public can anonymously report shops for incorrect posting. So, it is vital that the posting of these signs is done correctly.

FDA Rule Change

The new rule, which goes into effect on 09/30/24 also affects e-cigarettes. This changes the previous mandate for retailers, which was to check the ID of anyone under the age of 27.
