Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) are designed to support students with disabilities in successfully transitioning from high school to post-secondary education or meaningful employment.
These services aim to enhance workplace readiness by offering opportunities to develop and practice job skills through real-world, work-based learning experiences in competitive, integrated settings. Additionally, Pre-ETS encourages exploration of post-secondary training options that can lead to industry-recognized credentials and sustainable employment outcomes.
As the earliest set of services available to students with disabilities who are eligible or potentially eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services, Pre-ETS are short-term and focused on helping students begin identifying career interests. These interests may later be developed through individualized VR services, including more comprehensive Transition planning. Pre-ETS services are available to all students who meet the definition of a student with a disability and demonstrate a need for such services.
In partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, the National Center for Disability Education and Training at University of Oklahoma Outreach, along with Central Technology Center and Kiamichi Technology Center, is offering Pre-Employment Transition Services to high school students with disabilities. These introductory services are intended to help students begin exploring career interests at an early stage, with the aim of promoting community inclusion, independence, continued education, and successful entry into competitive, integrated employment.
