What is BEST STEP?

Building Employment Skills for Today (BEST) and Summer Transition Employment Program (STEP) – Gaining summer work experience and improving employment readiness among youth ages 16-21 with disabilities.

These camps are for clients of DRS, potentially eligible students and/or returning to high school in August. Students can have the opportunity to work part-time up to 25 hours a week for a business in the community of your area.

The first week is BEST and it is one week of employment training in a classroom setting. After the week of BEST, STEP begins. STEP is an up to four week internship with the option of five days of part-time work per week. Applications are required and space is limited. The application typically opens in early November and closes in early March. For more information please email us at TransitionTeam@okdrs.gov.
