The Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) seeks to ensure Oklahomans are provided with the resources needed to help strengthen their families and communities. Amazing work is already being done across the state by faith-based entities and local organizations. The OFBCI exists to be a point of connection between these efforts by providing information through Be A Neighbor and other state agency resources.

Faith-based and community organizations who want to do good and deepen their service to their community are encouraged to register with Be A Neighbor to help promote their resources. Whether you are a local service provider, clothing closet, food pantry, or other ministry offering community outreach, Be A Neighbor is a useful tool to further inform your local community about the services you offer. After all, we are all stronger when we work together.

Department of Corrections (DOC) has over 3,000 volunteers who provide services and programming to support people while incarcerated and upon release. They are currently looking for more volunteers across the state. Learn more here.

Visit DMHSAS Faith Services to learn about the array of technical assistance, upcoming clergy training, and other opportunities to connect to prevention, treatment and recovery services for Oklahoma faith partners.

Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) collaborates with youth, families, and community partners to create pathways for success through prevention and treatment for all Oklahoma youth. A current need is strengthening the re-entry process so those exiting residential care have three necessities: caring people, a higher purpose, and a safe, stable place to belong. Do you have an idea or a current ministry that supports transitional housing, transportation, mentorship, or assistance with basic needs such as household items or work uniforms?

To connect with OJA, complete their volunteer interest form.

Oklahoma Human Services also partners with 111Project. 111Project recruits and trains churches to support CarePortal, where Oklahoma Human Services staff upload real-time local needs, and community churches can respond to meet those needs. Learn more at: CarePortal | 111Project.org.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has a variety of ways you can collaborate with local or statewide efforts to help Oklahomans prevent adverse health outcomes and to help build healthier families.  Our mission is to protect and promote health, prevent disease and injury and to cultivate conditions by which Oklahomans can thrive. We do so by partnering with communities and individuals to meet needs like housing, access for unmet health care needs, transportation, and food insecurity.
Please reach out to communityengagement@health.ok.gov to get connected or you can contact your local health department.

Each child was carefully created by God and there's no greater honor or responsibility than to raise them and remind them of their inherent value."
