The Oklahoma Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) proudly attended the inaugural graduation ceremony of the first graduating class from Oklahoma Baptist University's (OBU) prison divinity program. Held at the OBU campus, the event marked a historic milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to transform lives through education and rehabilitation.
OBU faculty, Department of Corrections officials, and families joined to honor the graduates, who completed a rigorous theological curriculum while incarcerated. Governor Kevin Stitt addressed the graduates, highlighting that Oklahoma is the first state in the nation to offer a program of this kind and challenging the men to use this opportunity to make a greater impact. This innovative partnership between OBU and the Department of Corrections reflects a shared commitment to restoring hope, fostering purpose, and equipping individuals for meaningful reentry into society.
