Adoption Assistance - Service Information
Adoption assistance helps to secure and support safe and permanent adoptive families for children with special needs. Adoption assistance is designed to provide adoptive families of any economic stratum with needed social services, and medical and financial support to care for children considered difficult to place. Federal and state law provides for adoption assistance benefits including Medicaid coverage, a monthly adoption assistance payment, special services, and reimbursement of non-recurring adoption expenses.
Adoption Assistance Payments
Post Adoption Services (PAS) often receives calls near the first of the month from parents concerned that their Adoption Assistance benefit payments have not yet arrived. However, the usual timeframe to receive payment is between the 15th and 25th of the month. So, payments received before the 15th would be considered early and payments not received by 11:59 p.m. on the 25th would be considered late. If you have not received your payment by the 25th of the month, we encourage you to reach out to your PAS worker at that time for assistance.
