OKLAHOMA CITY (July 10, 2023) — The Oklahoma Human Services Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) division is halfway done connecting with waitlist families and on track to fulfill its original timeline.

Applications were divided into seven cohorts, and DDS began processing Cohort 5 on July 1.  Cohort 5 includes 899 applicants who joined the waitlist between February 2016 and May 2019.  Throughout the next 90 days, these applicants will connect with DDS. Once contact is made, there is a 6– to 9-month process for individuals to transition onto services if they qualify.

“We celebrate another milestone as we continue to move families onto services and end the wait,” said Dr. Deb Shropshire, director of Oklahoma Human Services. “Our DDS team is working feverishly to connect with waitlist families, which is why we are on track to achieve our goals.”

More than 2,600 DDS applications have been processed, and 819 people are already approved or receiving services.

DDS must have current contact information on file to reach waitlist families. Contact information can be updated by visiting  https://oklahoma.gov/okdhs/services/dds/ddswl.html.
