OKDHS:10-1-32. Refugees

Issued 4-1-98

Under Section 203(a)(7) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, aliens may be lawfully admitted to the United States if, because of persecution or fear of persecution on account of race, religion, or political opinion, they have fled from a Communist or Communist dominated country or from the area of the Middle East; or if they are refugees from natural catastrophes. Verification of the individual's entry under this section of the law is made by seeing the individual's Form 1-94, Arrival-Departure Record which contains stamped information to the effect that the individual was paroled into the United Stated indefinitely (no expiration date) as a refugee and specifies the country from which the individual is a refugee (see Section II of DHS Appendix J). These entries meet the "citizenship and alienage requirement.
