Thursday, January 25, 2024

For Immediate Release:

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan, 25, 2024) — It is with heavy hearts, we learned of the passing of original board member for the Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA), Bob Ravitz. Governor Frank Keating first appointed Ravitz to the board in 1995 and again in 1999.

Throughout Ravitz’s decade of board service, he played a critical role in shaping OJA’s focus on treatment and prevention. He promoted the practice of compassionate justice - holding youth accountable for their actions while protecting the community and creating opportunities for youth to positively change. His dedication and expertise made him a professional mentor to many.

"I had the great privilege of meeting Bob early in my career,” said OJA General Counsel Ben Brown. “I interned for the Public Defender’s office while in law school. After graduating, Ravitz hired me. I spent the next 23 years working for him. Bob’s vision and leadership continue to shape my approach to public service and the law. He will be deeply missed.”

The impact of Ravitz's contributions will be felt for years to come. His legacy as a compassionate advocate for justice will continue to inspire and guide the work of OJA. The Office of Juvenile Affairs extends its deepest condolences to Ravitz's family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
