FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
OKLAHOMA CITY, MARCH 9, 2021—Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) Executive Director Rachel Holt today thanked Sean Burrage for his years of service on the agency’s governing board.
Burrage, a member of OJA’s governing board since 2017, has notified House of Representatives Speaker Charles McCall of his decision to resign from the board. McCall appointed Burrage in 2019 after legislation was passed and signed into law that changed the makeup of the OJA board and who appoints its members.
“My position at the University of Oklahoma is very demanding,” wrote Burrage, the university’s vice president for executive affairs, in his letter to McCall, “and I need to give as much attention as possible to my duties in that regard. Please know that I feel very confident in the current board and the Executive Director, Rachel Holt.”
Before joining the University of Oklahoma in 2019, Burrage served five years as president of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Prior to that, he was a partner in the Taylor Burrage Law Firm. He also served in the Oklahoma Senate from November 2006 until June 2014.
“I appreciate Sean’s advice and leadership during his time on OJA’s governing board,” said Holt. “He has helped guide OJA to focus on improving treatment and educational programs that support and encourage at-risk youth in our care to achieve their full potential. He has been a great source of guidance and support for me during his board service and especially this past year as I have served as (interim) executive director.”
