Description

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in cooperation with the Federal HighwayAdministration (FHWA), is proposing improvements to I-40 between Douglas Boulevard and I-240 in OklahomaCounty, Oklahoma. The project will begin east of Douglas Boulevard and will extend approximately 4.8 mileseast to the westbound lanes of I-240. This project is one of several projects planned for the I-40 corridor fromI-35 to I-240.Existing I-40 between Douglas Boulevard and I-240 is a 4-lane divided interstate freeway with limitedaccess. The existing roadway has four 12-foot-wide driving lanes, 10-foot-wide outside shoulders, and 4-footwide inside shoulders. The two directions of travel are separated by a 30-32-foot wide median. Existing tracis approximately 44,260 vehicles per day (vpd), with future trac volumes in 2045 projected to be 63,240 vpd.Currently, existing vertical clearance at Post Road and Westminster Road is 16 feet 4 inches, and at AndersonRoad is 14 feet 10 inches. These are all less than the desired vertical clearance of 16 feet 9 inches.
