Title VII Information

Title VII prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information. This law also makes it illegal to retaliate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. The law also requires that employers reasonably accommodate applicants’ and employees’ sincerely held religious practices, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the operation of the employer’s business.

Complaint Process

Any person who believes that he or she, individually, as a member of any specific class, has been subjected to discrimination or retaliation prohibited by any of the Civil Rights Authorities has the right to file a complaint. Title VII Complaints must be filed no later than one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days following the date of the alleged act of discrimination orwhere there has been a continuing course of conduct, the date on which that conduct was discovered. The Contract Compliance Division may reasonably extend the time period up to 365 calendar days. Under the Appointing Authority's direction the agency will address incidents outside the required time frames.
