Oklahoma Department of Transportation opens request for proposals for NEVI formula program
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has officially opened a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the implementation of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program Funding. The RFP is posted here: https://oklahoma.gov/evok.html.
Interested parties can submit proposals for funding consideration by Friday, September 15. This program aims to support the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in designated corridors throughout Oklahoma.
Companies selected to receive funding will be required to adhere to the FHWA NEVI Formula Program final rules as well as comply with Oklahoma state laws. Key documents outlining the requirements include the:

Eligible sites for NEVI funding must be within 50 miles of preexisting or planned sites in designated corridors, within 1-mile driving distance of an exit, equipped with at least four charging ports capable of simultaneous 150kW or higher charging, accessible 24/7/365, and have broadband or cellular capability.
Interested applicants should coordinate with the electric distribution utility serving their prospective NEVI site to assess power capabilities and engage with the local municipality to determine permitting and zoning requirements. The federal funding can cover up to 80% of eligible NEVI project expenses, with a minimum 20% non-federal cost share required.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, enacted as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Public Law 117-58 makes the most transformative investment in EV charging in United States history that will put us on a path to a nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers by 2030 that ensures a convenient, affordable, reliable, and equitable charging experience for all users.
The $5 billion National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program will provide dedicated funding to States to strategically deploy EV charging infrastructure and establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability. Initially, funding under this program is directed to designated Alternative Fuel Corridors for electric vehicles to build out this national network, particularly along the Interstate Highway System. When the national network is fully built out, funding may be used on any public road or in other publicly accessible locations.
