Board Members


BOARD CHAIR

Michael (Mike) Pugliese

Michael (Mike) Pugliese serves as the current OBPVS Board Chair. He was appointed by the Governor to serve as a School member of the OBPVS Board. He does so as the President of Central Oklahoma College in Oklahoma City. Mr. Pugliese previously served as a Commissioner for the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges, a U.S. Department of Education-recognized independent accreditor. His Board term runs through July 1, 2028.

CO-CHAIR

Larry Narvaez

Larry Narvaez serves as the current OBPVS Board Co-Chair. Appointed by the Governor to serve as a School member of the OBPVS Board, he does so as an Owner and School Official at the Oklahoma College of Court Reporting in Oklahoma City. Mr. Narvaez knows first hand about the statewide shortage of trained Court Reporters. His Board term runs through July 1, 2027.

 

SCHOOL MEMBER

Kayla Danyeur

Kayla Danyeur was appointed by the Governor to serve as a School member of the OBPVS Board. She is the Manager of Regulatory Operations for Ancora Education in Oklahoma and other States. In the past, Ms. Danyeur served as a Team Leader for multiple ACCSC Accreditor Site Visits (inspections). Her Board term runs through July 1, 2025.

 

BUSINESS & INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVE

Kristi Hunt

Kristi Hunt was appointed by the Governor to serve as a Business & Industry representative to the Board. She does so as the Director of Human resources for SSM Health St Anthony in the Seminole & Shawnee area. In her previous career, Ms. Hunt was employed by several OBPVS-licensed Schools that offered healthcare training. Her Board term runs through July 1, 2024.

SCHOOL MEMBER

Teresa Knox

Teresa Knox was appointed by the Governor to serve as a School member of the OBPVS Board as a School Official with The Church Studio Institute in Tulsa. The Institute is housed within the historic Church Studio. Previously, Ms. Knox founded accredited, multi-discipline Schools licensed by the OBPVS. Currently, she also serves on nonprofit, city, and private board seats. Her OBPVS term runs through July 1, 2026.

BUSINESS & INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVE

Erin (Starkey) Robins

Erin Robins was appointed by the Governor to represent Business & Industry. She does so in her capacity as owner of the Edupreneur Academy and founder of a non-traditional school model. Mrs. Robins brings skills as a project manager and school administrator to the OBPVS Board, as well as her passion for all venues of education. Her Board term runs through July 1, 2029.                                

Ex-Officio's Designee

Elizabeth Walker

Elizabeth Walker is designated by the Chancellor of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) to serve as the Chancellor's representative to the Board.   At the OSRHE in Oklahoma City, Ms. Walker manages the OSRHE's state authorization process for (non-exempt) private and out-of-state degree-granting institutions and serves as the primary contact for Oklahoma's state membership and institutional participation in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA),  among other duties related to regulatory compliance and distance education. Her Board term runs indefinitely.

Ex-Officio's Designee

Justin Lockwood Ed.D.

Justin Lockwood, Ed.D., is designated by the State Director of Career & Technology Education in Stillwater to serve as the Director's representative to the OBPVS Board. Dr. Lockwood wears many hats for Career Tech. He brings a lot of "where-with-all" and energy to the OBPVS Board.  His Board term may run indefinitely.

 

Unnamed Ex-Officio Designee

TBA

VACANT, Designee Position for the State Superintendent of Public Instruction at the State Department of Education with the authority over K to 12th grade Students at Public, Charter, and Virtual Schools.  After designation, the OBPVS Board member may serve indefinitely.
