Family Violence and Animal Cruelty: Considerations for Enforcement Officers

This event has passed.

Description

Hosted by the National Sheriffs' Association and Humane World for Animals, this webinar will highlight the critical link between animal cruelty and other forms of violence, including organized crime, human trafficking, gang violence, and intimate partner or child abuse. Largely because of this link, acts of animal abuse are now tracked in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s criminal database alongside major felonies such as arson, assault, and homicide. This course will explore how animal abuse can serve as an indicator for future violence, the relationship between intimate partner violence and animal-related crimes, and the importance of inter-agency collaboration to build safer communities. This training is restricted to law enforcement professionals only. To gain access to the webinar, please register with your agency email address.
