Oklahomans interested in sharing their love of art and history for visitors from around the world as volunteer docents at the state Capitol should apply soon to participate in the upcoming annual training sessions for new volunteers.
Managed by the Oklahoma Arts Council, the Oklahoma State Capitol Docent Program provides a museum-quality education program through which docents learn to bring to life the art and history of the Capitol, leading 45-minute tours of a unique and dynamic space. The largest public art museum in the state, the Oklahoma State Capitol brings together art, history, and government like no other building in the state.
Docents get to meet people from around the world while enjoying perks such as special outings, VIP experiences, behind-the-scenes access, and more. Approved applicants must complete four weekly two-hour training sessions held throughout the month.
