With last month marking the start of the new fiscal year, I find myself reflecting on both the momentum we've built together and the opportunities that lie ahead. A new year always brings a renewed sense of purpose, and across Oklahoma, I continue to be inspired by the creativity, resilience, and dedication of the artists, organizations, educators, and community leaders who make our state such a vibrant place to live and create.
Last week, we were honored to welcome National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Mary Anne Carter to Oklahoma for two days of conversations, site visits, and experiences that showcased the remarkable breadth of our state's arts and cultural landscape. Her visit provided an opportunity to highlight the extraordinary work taking place and the strong partnerships that continue to strengthen our state through the arts.
During the same week, we also had the privilege of welcoming visitors attending the National Governors Association Summer Meeting in Oklahoma City, where we showcased the Oklahoma State Capitol Art Collection and shared the stories of our state's history, culture, and artistic excellence through one of Oklahoma's most significant public collections. Together, these moments reflected the growing national recognition of Oklahoma's vibrant arts and creative community. I am deeply grateful to our team and to everyone who helped make these visits such meaningful reflections of Oklahoma's creativity, hospitality, and collaborative spirit.
As summer begins to wind down, we are also preparing for an exciting season ahead. The months to come will bring new grant opportunities, programs, exhibitions, performances, and partnerships that continue to expand access to the arts in every corner of our state. Together, we will keep building on the progress we’ve made while embracing new ideas and new possibilities for Oklahoma’s creative future.
Thank you for all you do to champion the arts in your communities. Your work enriches lives, strengthens local economies, preserves cultural heritage, and reminds us of the power of creativity to bring people together. I look forward to all we will accomplish together in the fiscal year ahead.
