Administrative Letter 19-04

Dear Homemaker Provider,

Effective June 1, 2019, HIPAA code S5150 (Homemaker Respite) will no longer be authorized against your Homemaker services contract (specialty code 430).  Instead, S5150 will be authorized against a Respite services contract (specialty code 380).  If you don't have an active Respite services contract, and you would like to continue to provide Homemaker Respite services, you must obtain a Respite services contract.

Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) staff will end date existing authorizations for S5150 effective 05-31-19 and issue a new authorization for the balance of the service recipient's plan of care year, if you have an active Respite contract.  If you do not have an active DDS Respite contract by 06-01-19, DDS will have no mechanism for authorizing you to provide Homemaker Respite (S5150) services. 

If you would like to continue to provide and receive payment for Homemaker Respite services (S5150) beyond June 1, 2019, please contact your local DDS Area office, ask to speak with the Contracts and Claims Unit, and request a Respite waiver contract as soon as possible.  If you have questions about billing or the transfer of units, please feel free to contact the DDS Provider Support Center at 1-800-349-9173 or by email at ddsd.provider.support@okdhs.org.
