Provider update: July 21, 2020

To:  All ADvantage Case Management and Home Delivered Meals Providers

Subject:  Home Delivered Meals Authorizations

Date: July 22, 2020

In April, all active ADvantage Home Delivered Meals (HDM) authorizations were systematically doubled due to allowances provided in the emergency ADvantage waiver rules, known as Appendix K, to assist with addressing the needs of ADvantage Members during the time of this pandemic. At that time, we requested case managers amend service plans to reduce the number of meals when requested by the Member and in accordance with person-centered service planning principles.

Currently, at the direction of the Member, the Case Manager may request HDM authorization up to two meals a day (or 14 meals a week), depending on the individual Member's needs. For new HDM authorizations, two meals a day will not be automatically authorized by ADvantage, unless requested in the Member's service plan.

Note:When requesting hot meals on the Member's service plan, the Case Manager should document the frequency of the meals in calendar or business days

Requests for frozen or shelf stable meals should be requested with a weekly frequency.

If a Member needs 2 meals a day, but is currently authorized for 1 meal a day, the Case Manager will need to submit a Change in Service in Harmony and submit to ADvantage for authorization.

If you have any questions related to this information, please submit a PQ in Harmony.
