US-75 bridge replacement project at 81st St. begins Monday

Thursday, May 28, 2026

A nearly $27 million bridge replacement project on US-75 at 81st St. in Tulsa begins Monday. Drivers should expect narrowed lanes and a reduced speed limit through the work zone. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction on US-75 during peak travel times. The project will replace both north and southbound US-75 bridges over 81st St. with modern, wider structures. 81st St. will also be widened below the highway, and the interchange will be converted into a diverging diamond interchange, where 81st St. traffic will temporarily switch to the left side of the road between highway ramps, which increases safety and reduces congestion.

Weather permitting, completion is expected by the end of 2027. With two other work zones near this project, drivers are urged to follow the posted speed limit, put away distractions and pay extra attention to the roadway.

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission awarded the contract for this project to Sherwood Construction Co. Inc. in February 2026.
