North and southbound I-235 will be narrowed and shifted between I-40/Dallas Junction and Sheridan Ave. (mm 1C) from Monday, April 29 through July for bridge rehabilitation. The project will rehabilitate bridges over Reno Ave., the Union Pacific railroad and Sheridan Ave.
Throughout the project, I-235 will have lane closures, shifted lanes and reduced speed limits. Drivers should avoid the area, if possible, by taking I-35 and I-44 or finding an alternate route. Heavy congestion is expected during work and drivers should be prepared significant delays especially during peak travel times.
Crews will begin on southbound I-235 before moving to northbound I-235 later in the project. No work is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend or Fourth of July weekend. Drivers should buckle up, put away distractions and use extra caution in the area.
The Transportation Commission awarded the nearly $4 million project to Built Right Construction from Savanna, OK in the fall of 2023.
