Bridge replacement, repair projects begin March 6 at I-244 and US-169 in Tulsa

A bridge replacement project at the northbound US-169 ramp to westbound I-244/US-412 will replace the ramp on a new alignment adjacent to the current ramp. Work is expected to be completed in spring 2024, weather permitting. The bridge is considered functionally obsolete and at-risk of becoming structurally deficient. Related work will also include joint sealing and repair on the I-244/US-412 bridges over Mingo Creek, just west of the interchange.

As part of this project, the northbound US-169 ramp to westbound I-244/US-412 will be narrowed to one lane beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, March 6, through 6 a.m. March 13 for resurfacing to improve driving conditions until the new bridge is completed.

Drivers are urged to use extra caution in the area during construction.

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission awarded the $19 million contract for the project to Manhattan Road & Bridge Company in September 2022.

Since 2004, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation has had a major focus on improving highway bridge conditions within the state. At that time, Oklahoma ranked No. 49 in the nation with 1,168 out of 6,800 bridge rated as poor. As of last year, Oklahoma ranks as No. 5 nationally for highway bridge conditions with 47 bridges remaining in poor condition. All these remaining bridges are programmed for replacement or major rehabilitation by 2029 in ODOT's Eight-Year Construction Work Plan.
