US-69 shifts, narrows to one lane south of US-270 in McAlester, Pittsburg Co. Monday through fall
North and southbound US-69 will be narrowed to one lane, south of US-270, between S. 14th St. and Village Blvd. in McAlester beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 26 through September, weather permitting. All traffic will be shifted onto the southbound lanes while the northbound lanes and bridge are constructed. Access to Village Blvd. will be maintained and the J-turn north of Village Blvd. will remain open.
Drivers should allow plenty of extra travel time, expect delays or locate an alternate route.
The final phase of US-69 reconstruction in McAlester was awarded at the Oct. 5, 2020 Oklahoma Transportation Commission meeting to Allen Contracting for $32 million. It is estimated to be completed by fall 2022.
